Driving the Grand Pacific Drive & Sea Cliff Bridge
One of Australia's great coastal drives starts on your doorstep. Our suggested stops, lookouts and lunch breaks.
Why it's worth it
The Grand Pacific Drive winds from the Royal National Park down through the Illawarra, hugging cliffs and coastline. The highlight is the Sea Cliff Bridge, which curves out over the ocean between Clifton and Coalcliff.
Stops along the way
Bald Hill Lookout at Stanwell Park is famous for its views and hang gliders. Stop to walk across the Sea Cliff Bridge on foot for photos, then refuel at one of the cafes in Austinmer or Thirroul on the way back.
Heading south
Continue south to Kiama to see the Blowhole and wander Terrace Lane's heritage shops, a perfect half-day extension.
